Addison Rae’s Hair Color

Addison Rae’s hair color is defined as golden bronde. Bronde is a combination of brown and blonde. Bronde essentially means you have brown hair, or at least you your roots and under-dye is brown.

But it has a blonde tint and golden highlights that lift it up from the brown color. Addison’s hair has this mixed look that achieves bronde but also has golden highlights in the front of her hair that lightens it even further.

Bronde has a very natural look, and the addition of the golden streaks toward her face gives it a sunkissed and distinct look that sets her apart.

How to Get Addison Rae’s Hair Color

If you love Addison’s look so much that you want to copy it, this is a definite possibility. Her hair may seem like a naturally brilliant color that can’t be mimicked, but this is not the case.

You can turn your hair into Addison Rae’s with the help of a professional hairdresser, or you can boldly do it at home by yourself. This section will explain how you can achieve Addison’s color perfectly, whether at the salon or at home.

Read both options to determine which one is better for you. If you’ve never dyed your hair at home, it may be best to just go to the hairdresser. However, if you’re up for the challenge, this step-by-step guide will be useful.

At a Salon

When you have your hair dyed, cut, or styled at a salon, it can be challenging to communicate exactly what you want to your stylist. A great start to explaining the color you want is to bring a few pictures of the right color or cut.

So, of course, in this situation, you’ll want to load up your phone with plenty of pictures where you love Addison Rae’s hair color. In addition to your photo evidence, you may want to give them a few ideas about achieving it.

You can discuss a balayage combined with free-painting highlights on your hair that could mimic Addison’s look. To be clear, you shouldn’t be bossing your hairdresser around.

This should be a conversation where you express what you want and discuss with them the best techniques to create the style you desire. Most bronde styles combine a highlighting formula, root formula, and a gloss finish formula.

Exactly what brands and formulas you use will likely depend on what your hairdresser likes to use. However, below are some recommendations provided by Addison’s hairdresser herself, Cassondra Kaeding, for the golden bronde look:

Highlight Formula:

  • 4 Redken Flash Lift Pods Bonder Inside
  • 4oz. Redken 30-volume Pro-Oxide Cream Developer

Root Formula:

  • 1.5oz. Redken Shades EQ Gloss 09N Café au Lait
  • 0.5oz. Redken Shades EQ Gloss 08NA Volcanic
  • 2oz. Redken Shades EQ Processing Solution

Gloss Formula:

  • 2oz. Redken Shades EQ Gloss 010N Delicate Natural
  • 2oz. Redken Shades EQ Gloss 09NB Irish Crème
  • 4oz. Redken Shades EQ Processing Solution

Cassondra Kaeding is a brand ambassador for Redken, but her recommendations are still valuable as she is responsible for Addison’s radiant hair color.

Even if your salon doesn’t have Redken products, this list of products and the combinations for the formula can still be excellent information to give your stylist. This list will give an idea of what products they should be combining to achieve the perfect color.

Keep in mind that the color may take two sittings to accomplish. Because the color requires some layering effects, it may be easier to achieve by starting with the brown coloring and then moving on to the blonde tones and highlights.

At Home

If you don’t want to drop a bunch of money at the salon, you can always try to achieve the golden bronde color at home on your own. To do this, follow these steps closely.

If you have a friend willing to help, they can assist with coloring the back and having a better perspective on your hair as a whole. It also helps to watch several Youtube videos of people dying their hair at home to get a feel for the process if you’re unfamiliar.

How to Color Your Hair Golden Bronde

Here are the steps to color your hair to achieve Addison Rae’s golden bronde. These steps will work for someone with medium or light hair color. If you have very dark brown or black hair or have previously dyed your hair, you may want to use a lightener before doing this.

Day 1

Prepare Hair

Your hair should be unwashed and dry, so don’t color your hair with the same dye that you take a shower with shampoo. Having some oil can help the color absorb more evenly and thoroughly.

Section your hair into four parts: right, left, top, and bottom. Clip the right, left, and top up with hair clips and leave the bottom unclipped. Try to divide up the sections as evenly as possible and comb your hair through as you do it.

Place a towel over your shoulders and underneath the bottom layer of your hair. Now, put on rubber gloves to protect your hands from staining and chemicals.

 Prepare the Color

The next step is to mix the first color you will use. We recommend using the Redken products listed above, as Addison’s hairstylist uses these to get the right golden brown look.

Mix 1.5 ounces of Redken Shades EQ Gloss 09N Café au Lait, 0.5 ounces of Redken Shades EQ Gloss 08NA Volcanic, and 2 ounces of Redken Shades EQ Processing Solution. Pour the mixture into a squeeze bottle and shake well while covering the top with your finger.

Dye Your Roots Brown

This formula is for darkening your hair to get the soft shade of brown you’re looking for. Pay close attention to coloring the underneath of your hair. Underneath is where Addison’s hair is darkest, and you can see the brown.

Work by squeezing the mixture at your roots, starting underneath your hair, and working the mixture down. When you finish the underneath, unclip one side and do the same, squeezing at the roots. Repeat these steps for the other side and then the top of your hair.

Wait Then Rinse

Allow the color to set for 20-30 minutes. The longer it sits, the darker the shade of brown will be, so keep this in mind. You can hop in the shower and rinse out the dye or rinse your hair out in the sink. Make sure you do s thoroughly and avoid using shampoo or conditioner just yet.

Mix Highlight Formula

Now, it’s time to add the highlight or the blonde colors to your hair. You mix the four Redken Flash Lift Pods with 4 ounces of Redken 30-volume Pro-Oxide Cream Developer. Pour it into a different squeeze bottle, not the same one you used before, and shake well with your finger on top.

Apply Highlights

Wait until your hair completely dries after the first layer of dying. Clip your hair up in the same manner, with four sections. Squeeze the mixture in at your roots or lower.

Wait and Rinse

For this layer, you only have to wait up to 20 minutes. Then, you can go ahead and rinse the dye out. Don’t shampoo or condition your hair.

Day 2

Mix Gloss Formula

On day two, you should leave your hair down; no clipping is necessary for these steps. Mix 2 ounces of Redken Shades EQ Gloss 010N Delicate Natural, 2 ounces of Redken Shades EQ Gloss 09NB Irish Crème, and 4 ounces of Redken Shades EQ Processing Solution.

For the gloss formula, you can use a squeeze bottle. But to get the natural, sunkissed look, use a brush and plastic bowl.

Apply Gloss

For this, you should focus on the top of your hair, specifically toward the front of your face. This focus will make it so you get the uneven but natural-looking tone across your hair that Addison Rae has! To achieve the light glossy shade you want, you should only leave the formula on for 15-20 minutes and then rinse it out.

Condition

Don’t shampoo your hair after rinsing it, but this would be the perfect time to add a deep conditioning treatment. Using so many different dyes can dry your hair out down the road, but a conditioning treatment can combat this.
